Cloth Tissue Box Covers

I remember in my home my mother use to have a hideous tissue box cover that looked like a couch. It screamed 1980's and she seemed to have it forever. I remember thinking "I will never use a tissue box cover in my house for fear of bad style!!" I mean seriously was it made to look like a couch so we could use it while playing Barbie?? I am not sure, just trust me a tissue box should not be converted to look like a couch! I might of been so scared by that couch tissue box cover I am not a huge fan of tissue boxes in general. The tissue box companies have tried their hardest to make tissue boxes retro, stylish, & feminine but not one of them really goes with my house where it actually looks like it could be apart of my decor. Rather it looks like a box that we all know it's purpose is to just to capture the gross stuff!!

I am losing focus...

I was reading through some blogs and saw a tutorial on Design Sponge cloth tissue box covers and how wonderful they looked and I was sold on Tissue Box Covers. What a concept I could make them to go with my decor and I am the designer!!

The first one I actually made was a gift for a friend at Christmas. I thought I would share my new love for tissue box covers with her. Isn't this great?

SO VERSATILE!! I did make one for me for the holidays. I no longer will buy the $2.50 tissue boxes with the festive holiday scene. I can buy the 99cent ones and cover them to work with the holiday, the season, or simply my decor! See it is economical too!!

Then to make it really personalized I made some with monograms on them. They make great gifts!!
I am now a fan of cloth tissue box covers and it kinda conceals the real purpose with a little style!! BTW- The tutorial from Design Sponge was excellent- 5 stars!!
