New NC State Shirt from Existing Shirt

Last Friday I did a feature on "It's Football Time" showing off team spirited projects. I love this time of year. We were very excited for our team NC State to hit the field on Saturday. We were even more excited that NC State won!! We didn't see the game at the stadium but we did watch it on the computer and Wesley told us "He LOVES football." That's my boy!!

To continue the enthusiasm from Saturday night I decided to make my son this shirt...

It didn't start off this way. I decided to recycle and upcycle one of his existing red shirts.

This outfit I made him back in March. I like it I don't love it. So I snagged the shirt for a new look and threw away the shorts.


The dilemma was all the stitching. There was no way I was going to remove all that stitching so I just cut out the inside...



Then I made the applique bigger so it would cover the existing stitches. Simple and didn't cost me a dime....

This techique makes you start looking at old shirts in a whole new way!
